Default Any suggestions for thrifty/deal-scoring shopping in NYC?

I've read a bit about the garment district... any specific suggestions or comments? Good thrift stores would be ideal. Inexpensive stores with great, high-quality merchandise also perfect. Discount designer (authentic) items anywhere? Thanks for the suggestions :)

For discount designer stuff you can try hitting up Century 21 Department Store, which is down near ground zero. It's a mecca of anything from shoes, handbags, accessories, clothes, etc....all discounted. It's kind of like a super intense TJ Maxx or Marshalls, so be prepared to hunt through rack after rack before finding the quintessential D&G dress you've been hoping for all your life.

Another option is Daffys. There are a few locations around the city, so you can google their website.

It's been a while since I've been in a thrift shop in the city, but if I remember correctly there are some over towards the East Village area. Several years ago I bought a fantastic, vintage velvet blazer. It's still one of my all time favorite jackets and I think I paid like $20 for it.

Good luck and happy shopping!
